The Vision of Manzil |
|
Manzil Educational Organization is a youth
based student venture that aims to provide free quality education to
the city's underprivileged children.
Our organization came into being in September 2002
when a
student Shazia Mirza, with her pocket money as the only financial
source to support this cause at its nascent stage, started with one
room by attracting children of Raiti lines Basti (a slum in Karachi)
to study. Within a couple of weeks this motivated many young minds
from different schools,
colleges & universities
who
were ready to assist in the effort to make education available for
the underprivileged.
Facing
many hurdles and encountering many challenges,
we have successfully established our sample project, which consists of
two schools and a clinic for females, located in the Raiti Lines Area (Behind Bath Island -
Clifton). Manzil has not taken donations, throughout
the two and a half years of its existence. All the funds for running
the schools were raised through fund-raiser events. Manzil believes
that as Pakistanis we do not feel responsible for our own problems.
Manzil is based on the foundation that the youth of Pakistan can
play an active role and if given a platform they can utilize their
skills to achieve the goal of a literate nation. |
